Belgrade, 16th September 2014 – Minister of culture and information in the Government of the Republic of Serbia Mr. Ivan Tasovac held talks today with the minister of the department of environment Mr. Greg Hunt over preservation of natural and cultural heritage.

Special attention to this topic during the talks was given from the aspect of membership of Serbia in the Committee for the protection of world’s heritage UNESCO, with the emphasis on the support of this committee as vitally important in the realization of projects which are found in the minister’s department of environment in Australia.

Tasovac and Hunt have talked about possibilities concerning cooperations between the two countries in the area of culture together with main issues regarding preservation of cultural and historical heritage in Kosovo and Metohija.

One of the topics discussed during the meeting was also tackling consequences left behind the heavy floods in Serbia that occurred in May this year.

Tasovac believes that this meeting was very useful, having in mind that meetings between Serbia and Australia on a ministerial level are held rather seldom.

He also pointed out that possibilities have been explored for cooperation in the area of culture and has underlined that the exchange of experiences and knowledge is interpreted as the most essential segment of cooperation, according to the publication of ministry of culture and information.
