Official handing over of a collection of books on Serbian literature and culture as a gift to the University Library, University of Melbourne has organized by Cultural Club Novi Sad Thursday 29th January. The official ceremony was led by Mr Philip G Kent, University Librarian & Executive Director, Collections and HE Mr Miroljub Petrovic, Ambassador of the Republic of Serbia.
The collection is a gift from various libraries and publishers in Serbia, including National Library of Serbia (Narodna Biblioteka Srbije), Library Matica srpska Novi Sad and Serbian Academy of Sciences Library (Biblioteka SANU). The books were collected in Serbia through the offices of Matica Srpska Novi Sad and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs at the request of Club Novi Sad Melbourne. The books on Serbian literature and culture, 300 titles, will enhance the existing Russian collection in the interest of promoting research into a wider area of Slavic studies.
