This firstly relates to the realization that the Kingdom of Serbia undoubtedly had a Consulate led by the Honorary Consul in Melbourne dating back to the year of 1892 (by some indirectly available facts, the Consulate was open even 10 years earlier – in the year of 1882). The first Honorary Consul at this Consulate was Mr. John Oldham until 1906, a respected lawyer, succeeded by his son Arthur Eggleston Oldham until 1922, and then grandson Trevor Oldham until 1933, and from 1934 another grandson John Oldham.

The Consulate of the Kingdom of Serbs, Croats and Slovenes in Sydney was opened in 1920 and the first Honorary Consul was Sir Kelso King, in Serbian and Australian media known as the father of famous Olive Kelso King, who was the legendary ambulance driver and member of the Serbian army at the Thessaloniki front.

The Consulate in Fremantle was opened in the year of 1929 and the first Honorary Consul was Mr. Nikola Marić.

At the reception held on 15th February 2016 at the Embassy of the Republic of Serbia in Canberra on the occasion of the Statehood Day of Serbia, most of the documents received from the Archive of Yugoslavia were for the first time publicly displayed. It primarily showcases the edicts and correspondence administrated in regards to appointments and recalls.

At this place we present only a part of those documents and we call upon all those who eventually might be in a disposition of personal archives or acknowledgments about the history of the diplomatic relations between Serbia and Australia to contact the Embassy.
